A positive signal for agricultural exporters
On 16 July 2026, Vietnam News and Bao Chinh Phu reported that Vietnam Customs requested maximum facilitation for agricultural, forestry and fishery exports, including same-day clearance and processing outside regular hours when needed.
This is helpful for time-sensitive cargo. Still, faster clearance does not remove the need for clean documentation, truck planning and coordination with the importer.
Document checklist
- Contract, invoice and packing list with consistent cargo name, quantity, weight and packing details.
- Customs declaration and HS code aligned with the actual cargo.
- Phytosanitary, inspection or other certificates when required.
- Growing-area, packing-house and traceability information if the destination market requires it.
- Truck, driver, plate number, container/seal and estimated border arrival time.
Booking and border coordination
For road-border exports, congestion risk can come from yards, truck queues, importer-side capacity and inspection-policy changes, not only customs. Exporters should share the plan early with their forwarder or customs broker.
FAQ
Does same-day clearance apply to every shipment?
No. Faster clearance depends on accurate documents, correct declaration, border conditions and importer-side inspection requirements.
What should be ready before the truck reaches the border?
Prepare trade documents, required certificates, traceability data when applicable, truck/container/seal details and a contingency plan for additional checks.
