A competitive freight quote can still lead to a higher final bill. Before confirming a booking, check these five cost areas:
- Origin local charges: THC, seal fee, VGM weighing, handling and documentation fees.
- Destination charges: D/O fee, handling, CFS charges or agent collection fees.
- Container and yard storage: demurrage, detention and storage once free time expires.
- Inland transport: pickup, delivery, lift on/off and waiting-time surcharges.
- Duties and clearance fees: import duty, VAT, specialized inspection and customs declaration costs.
Ask every quote to state its scope of service, applicable conditions, validity period and any charges not included. A complete landed-cost table makes it much easier to compare offers accurately.
